Sellers pay us to list their business and access marketing tools.
Finders use the directory for free to find shops and products.
Your Email Address: We'll never sell it, rent it, or share it with anyone except when absolutely necessary to operate the platform (like our payment processor or email service seller, both of whom are contractually prohibited from using it for anything else).
Your Browsing Behavior: We don't track you across the web.
Email Lists You Build: If you're a seller collecting email addresses through your listing, that's YOUR data. We don't touch it, don't use it, don't sell it. You export it and take it with you.
Your Business Information: If you're a seller, your listing information is displayed publicly on our directory because that's literally the service you're paying for but we're not packaging that up and selling it to lead generation companies or competitors.
We only share your data when necessary to operate the platform:
Payment Processor: To process your subscription payments. They're bound by strict PCI compliance and can't use your data for anything else.
Email Service Seller: To send you transactional emails (receipts, password resets, account updates). They can't use your email for their own marketing.
Analytics Collection: We use analytics to understand how people use the platform so we can improve it. This data is anonymized and aggregated.
Legal Compliance: If required by law (subpoena, court order), we'll provide the minimum data necessary.
Most platforms sell data because their core service is free and they need another revenue stream. We're different:
Sellers pay for the service. We make money when you subscribe to list your business.
We're not venture-backed. We're not under pressure to maximize revenue at any cost or "monetize our user base."
Our values align with yours. You're building a business on owned resources - your website, your email list, your customer relationships. We believe in that philosophy.
We might publish general statistics publicly (like "500 shops now listed across 30 states") for marketing purposes. But never anything that identifies you or your business specifically without your explicit permission.
For Finders: The favorites you build on Handifaire are yours. That's your personal database of trusted sellers. We're not selling that to anyone.
For Sellers: The email addresses you collect through your listing belong to you. That's your marketing asset. Export it anytime. We'll never use it for ourselves or sell it to others.
We won't. But if for some reason we ever considered selling data, we would:
